The Awakening has had quite an eventful summer! After spending time in Europe and Costa Rica, our team traveled to Orlando, Florida for Youth Quest. While at Youth Quest, we were able to connect and fellowship with many young people, youth pastors, and church leaders alike, discussing future missions trips and ministry opportunities.
The Youth Quest conference featured services each morning and night, during which the attendees experienced powerful moves of the Holy Spirit. For lack of better words, the presence of God was alive and moving during the entire conference. In addition to the services, the conference featured "Fine Arts Festival," which is a Christ centered arts competition. A wide range of Christian artists compete in categories such as dance, human video, short sermon, rap, vocal, short film and even web design. It is safe to say that everyone who watched the performance of these various arts were greatly blessed to see how creative God's people are. In addition, the arts competition reminds us that there are many more ways to worship and minister than most of us think.
The Awakening was also proud to present its new theme for the coming year entitled, "Break Our Hearts For What Breaks Yours." Along with the presentation of this year's theme, we also introduced our newest video, produced by Steffan Light from the IPHC media team. So far, we have had tremendous feedback from the video. We hope that many more people will view it and be moved by the numerous unfortunate situations in this world that break God's heart, and should break ours. It is our intent that people are not only broken hearted by issues such as abortion, broken families, and international conflict, but that we would be encouraged to do something about it.
